What actually drives gift box shipping costs

Shipping cost is not magic. It comes down to three things: how heavy the box is, how big it is, and how far it has to go. Two of those three are things we can control on our end, which is why our rates stay reasonable.
Weight sets the floor
Carriers charge by weight first. Every snack adds grams, and a box with forty items costs more to ship than one with twenty. This is the simplest lever, and it is why our smaller boxes are cheaper to send than our fully loaded ones.

Size matters more than people think
A box that is large but light can cost more than a small heavy one. Carriers price on what is called volumetric weight, which means bulky packaging gets charged as if it were heavier. We size our boxes to the snacks, not the other way around, so you do not pay to ship air.
Distance is the last piece
Shipping from Amsterdam to Rotterdam is cheaper than to Lisbon, for the obvious reason. Cross border orders cost a little more than domestic ones, but within the EU the difference is often smaller than people expect.
